The final round of the 2022 Virtual HKUST Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition was held on June 10, 2022. This was the second time that this signature event was held online and attracted a large group of audience including students, faculty, and staff. Eight finalists from four schools/ program offices and also from eight different countries competed through pre-recorded 3MT® presentations and Q&A with the judging panel and the audience. After an hour and a half’s presentation and discussion, the championship went to Georgios Grigoropoulos, PhD student under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Salah Ben Habib Ghidaoui in Civil Engineering. The second and the third places went to Leslie Anne Yasis, PhD student under the supervision of Professor King Lun Yeung in Environmental Science, Policy and Management, and Patrick Ryan Galligan, PhD student under the supervision of Professor Zhengtang Luo in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Usman Bin Shahid, PhD student in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, under the supervision of Professor Minhua Shao, won the People’s Choice award.
Leslie will represent HKUST at the 2022 Asia-Pacific 3MT® Competition.
